Mrs. Ackley’s Adventure School was founded in 2020 by Laura Ackley, a passionate and credentialed elementary educator, to serve Pre-Kindergarten students in Blooming Grove, Texas, and surrounding communities.
Curriculum
Mrs. Ackley built the curriculum upon Texas Pre-Kindergarten Guidelines and Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills for Kindergarten (TEKS) to ensure each child has a solid academic foundation before entering Kindergarten.
Every day, students engage in hands-on, experiential learning in the subjects of phonics, reading, writing, math, science, social studies, art, and physical education. Lessons are designed to promote problem-solving and critical-thinking skills as students engage in class projects such as worm composting, incubating and hatching different types of birds, and observing the life cycles of various living organisms. Additionally, students participate in daily literacy groups as they learn to read and write at or above grade-level.
Mrs. Ackley’s Adventure School holds tension between rigor and developmentally appropriate practices for Pre-K aged children. Each student’s academic progress is monitored through formal and informal means. This information informs instruction, as Mrs. Ackley differentiates instruction based upon students’ individual academic needs.
The curriculum also prioritizes students’ social, emotional, and behavioral growth explicitly teaching important skills such as sharing, turn-taking, conflict-resolution, leadership, and compassion. Students receive many opportunities to put their learning to practice through group work, centers, and recess. Mrs. Ackley provides students with developmentally appropriate behavioral expectations that will assist students in their transition to Kindergarten the following year.
All classroom management at Mrs. Ackley’s Adventure School is proactive in nature, respects children, and helps students learn self-control. Positive reinforcement and logical consequences for misbehavior will be implemented for the benefit of all students.
Mrs. Ackley’s Adventure School is also a Christian-based environment. At the beginning of each school day, a Bible story is taught, Scripture is read, and the class has a time of prayer together. Each month, students participate in a different service project as they learn leadership through service to others.
Non-State Regulated Program
Mrs. Ackley’s Adventure School is a private business located on a residential property. Due to the hours of operation, Mrs. Ackley’s Adventure School does not require a child care center license or formal permitting to operate. According to the state of Texas, the definition of “regular care” is three days a week for four hours or more a day. Mrs. Ackley’s Adventure School operates only two days a week.

Rates
Monthly
1 Child – 10 Monthly Payments of $326
This method will be scheduled in “4-week” segments.
Bi-Annually
1 Child – 2 Payments of $1,630
This method will be due the first day of each semester.
* All payments are final and non-refundable. There is a three day grace period with each payment plan. If payment is not submitted by the end of the grace period, then a $25 late fee will be added to the amount due. Each day the balance remains unpaid after the grace period will result in an additional $5 fee daily until the balance is paid in full. All online payments will be subject to a 4% processing fee.
Mrs. Ackley's Adventure School
